Urban Park Executive Leadership Program
Beginning in March 2018, the Institute will offer the first-ever multi-day Urban Park Executive Leadership Program. The program is geared towards senior staff and aspiring high-level managers in established public-private park partnerships (conservancies, friends groups, etc.) and agencies working in urban parks and open spaces.
In partnership with the City University of New York School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS), this comprehensive program will cover a variety of topics, including both park operations and partnership management. Based on proven practices and first-hand knowledge, this training will include sessions on:
- Public-Private Park Partnerships
- Management and Operations, including trash management, special event management, and the Conservancy's Zone Management System
- Nonprofit Best Practices for Park Partnerships
- Long-term Sustainability/Parks as Urban Infrastructure
- In-Park Practicums
- Additional topics
Professional Certificates in Urban Park Management
The Institute and CUNY SPS will offer the first-ever professional certificate series for urban park professionals, beginning in June 2018.
This certificate program will focus on four subject areas – Horticulture, Management and Operations, Visitor Experience, and Nonprofit Best Practices – providing current and aspiring park professionals with critical skills in key urban park management disciplines. The certificate program will be offered both in-person and online.
