Job Summary:
Intern will perform all the duties of the Tree Care Intern, however, with documentation of up-to-date certification in all the following, the intern will be able to perform additional duties as noted below.

Job Description:

Advanced Tree Care Intern

Intern will perform all the duties of the Tree Care Intern, however, with documentation of up-to-date certification in all the following, the intern will be able to perform additional duties as noted below.

Duties include:

·         Learning to use Tree Care Database and asset management system including the GIS basemap to identify and locate trees in the field

·         Learning to observe trees for health issues

·         Learning to apply risk management and mitigation techniques

·         Pruning trees and shrubs with hand tools

·         Maintaining hand tools, power tools, and machinery

·         Assisting with worksite safety and traffic control

·         Organizing work site ground equipment

Additional Duties:

·         Tree climbing with rope and saddle

·         Pruning with hand saw and chain saw

·         Rigging

·         Operation of aerial lift

·         Operation of wood chipper

Requirements:       

·         First aid and CPR (Red Cross, American Heart Association)

·         Aerial Rescue (TCIA home study, North American Training Solutions (NATS))

·         Chainsaw operation and safety (TCIA home study, NATS)

·         Actively pursuing a degree in arboriculture, forestry, or related field

·         Highly motivated and responsible

·         Ability to closely follow instructions and all safety procedures

·         Ability to perform heavy physical labor in all types of weather (rain gear will be provided)

·         Able to interact extensively with the public and cross-functionally with CPC staff

·         Familiarity with GIS strongly preferred

Schedule:

Monday – Friday

7:00 am – 3:30 pm
