Job Summary:
The Central Park Conservancy is looking for an experienced Copywriter- Editor to join the Communications department. This position will collaborate with the content, social, web, and graphics teams to help develop the new voice of the Conservancy and revamp copy across all channels, including the website, email, social media, and print. The ideal candidate can craft engaging and effective copy, varying tone and style based on the project, audience, and platform. This position will collaborate with other team members to develop promotional concepts, while writing copy that drives conversions and meets business objectives. S/he is detail oriented, and a stickler for grammar and accuracy

About the Park and the Central Park Conservancy

Built between the years 1858 and 1873, Central Park is almost entirely man-made and considered to be a single work of art. Composed of natural elements – turf, woodlands, and water bodies, along with architectural elements, this 843-acre National Historic Landmark requires a unique set of skills to maintain these features to the highest standards. Founded in 1980, the mission of the Central Park Conservancy is to restore, manage and enhance Central Park in partnership with the public.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

       Review current communications materials and update copy based on the Conservancy’s new narrative and tone guidelines

       Work with stakeholders around the organization to update print and digital materials, and manage the process of copy review and approvals

       Write and edit landing page and UX copy for the Conservancy website

       Craft messaging for a variety of emails, including newsletters and event promotions

       Collaborate with the department on creative development and copy for advertisements, social media campaigns, and promotions

       Research and write long-form pieces including blog posts and newsletters

       Proofread various materials, including emails, brochures, and newsletters, for grammar and style

Minimum Requirements:

       Undergraduate degree, and 3-5 years of commensurate experience

       Experience writing copy for email, website, and social media

       Knowledge of SEO best practices for website copy

       Excellent proofreading and copyediting skills  

       Excellent time management skills and attention to detail

       Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with stakeholders across the organization

       Creative and strategic thinker who can translate big ideas into compelling and effective copy

       Good visual design sense
