Job Summary:
The IT/Network Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all network File Servers, Wide Area Network, Local Area Network and Internet equipment. The IT/Network Administrator provides support to users of the CPC Network, E-mail and Internet Services as needed. Additionally, the IT/Network Administrator communicates appropriate design and configuration information across the department as needed, and documents all configuration, design, and use of solutions under current responsibilities.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

·         Network Maintenance and Administration

o   Insure day-to-day function of all infrastructure related to the computer environment including but not limited to File Servers, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Wireless Access Points, VPN connections, Virtual Server Environments and Server Rooms.

o   Insure all security standards are adhered to and updated regularly.

o   Insure network structure and design adheres to current industry standards.

o   Implement, maintain, and monitor network security.

o   Upgrade servers and networks regularly.

o   Windows Server and Active Directory administration.

o   Insure backups strategies are adhered to using current solutions and regularly modify solutions to stay current with industry standards.

o   Responsible for integrity of live and archived data.

o   Maintain all current equipment with appropriate patches and drivers from all required vendors.

o   Serve as one of the main contacts for data/telecommunications problems or repairs.

o   On-hand and on-demand support and assistance in times of emergency.

o   Manage and maintain local and global network settings including DNS, DHCP, Security Certificates, Host Files, SMTP Relays, Firewall Rules, Switch Rules, and other network essentials.

o   Maintain connectivity to ISP.


·         Provide Backup support to PC users and senior technical support to IS Staff.

o   Assist in Help-desk PC support when necessary including, but not limited to, the diagnosing and researching of issues and problems, utilizing existing knowledge of environment, and backing up staff during high excessively busy situations. 

o   Purchase Order Requisition for Network needs, recommending vendors and products.

    • Work within existing technology tracking system (currently Spiceworks) to accept assigned tasks, to document details about and solutions to tasks, to communicate with CPC and IT department staff, and to close tickets.

Abilities Required

o   BA or BS (or 3-5 years of related work experience)

o   Driver’s License valid in New York State
