Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Finance Director and be responsible for the general ledger account reconciliations, maintaining subsidiary ledgers for fixed assets, Investments, and other tasks as assigned.

About the Park and the Central Park Conservancy

Built between the years 1858 and 1873, Central Park is almost entirely man-made and considered to be a single work of art. Composed of natural elements – turf, natural areas, and water bodies, along with architectural elements, this 843-acre National Historic Landmark requires a unique set of skills to maintain these features to the highest standards. Founded in 1980, the mission of the Central Park Conservancy is to restore, manage and enhance Central Park in partnership with the public.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Review general ledger accounts and prepare entries and reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, and investigate variances
  • Analyze and track investment transactions prepare reconciliations to statements, and enter into general ledger
  • Complete and file various Government Census reports
  • Prepare and submit quarterly Sales tax filings
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations of the Payroll account.
  • Monitor fixed asset purchases and maintain subsidiary ledgers
  • Prepare and submit bi-weekly 403b payments
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of the year-end financial audit of the organization and the annual audit of the 403b plan
  • Provide support in the department as necessary

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting
  • Five plus years’ experience as an auditor and/or a non-profit organization
  • Detail oriented and well organized, focused individual with multi-tasking ability
  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge, or other not for profit accounting software
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
