Nearly 2,000 lovers of Central Park braved a last-minute rainstorm to enjoy fireworks at Bethesda Terrace for Central to Spring on April 10. Conservancy staff members kept the area clean and greeted visitors, letting them know what it takes get the Park ready for spring, including planting 57,000 flowers and shrubs, mowing 250 acres of lawn, and laying 850 tons of mulch on flower beds. The City Bakery served cookies and delicious springtime refreshments. In midtown, the Empire State Building was lit up in Conservancy green to celebrate Central to Spring.
