On December 2, 2012 over 700 people attended the 16th Annual Holiday Lighting at the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center at the Harlem Meer. The event was organized by the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy and made possible by our founding sponsor, ConEdison. Families enjoyed free hot chocolate and cookies to the sound of carols performed by the Dickens Carolers. Okamoto Studio exhibited two original ice sculptures, and children took turns sharing their wish lists and taking photos with Santa Claus. And of course, as the evening's finale, the Dana Discovery Center was illuminated for the season, along with a flotilla of 17 evergreens adrift on the Harlem Meer. In case you missed the lighting ceremony, you can see the Dana Center and flotilla lit every night until January 6th!
