Film & Photo Shoots
You don’t need a permit to photograph in Central Park if you're using handheld equipment or using a tripod on paved areas. You cannot use tripods on any of the lawns. If you're bringing other equipment — or if you have any other questions about photography in the Park — please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 212.628.1036, ext. 335.
Thousands of requests to film and photograph in Central Park are submitted each year, and each application receives personal attention to ensure projects can be completed without damaging landscapes or interfering with the experience enjoyed by more than 40 million visitors each year in Central Park.
Once you receive approval from the Conservancy’s Operations team, you may apply for an official permit with the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting.
Before planning any shoot in Central Park, please refer to our Guidelines for Filming and Photography in Central Park and Guidelines for Vehicle Use in Central Park. While there are no fees to film or photograph in Central Park, donations to Central Park Conservancy are greatly appreciated. These funds help to restore and maintain Central Park so it can continue to be enjoyed by all.
