Film Festival: Airplane! (PG)

Date: August 27, 2015, 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM

In 1980, Central Park Conservancy was founded by a group of concerned citizens determined to reverse the decline of Central Park. On the eve of our 35th Anniversary, we look back to reflect on how far we've come. Join us at the 2015 Central Park Conservancy Film Festival Aug. 25 through Aug. 28 and for classic films from the year 1980! Presented by Bloomberg. More Information.

Tonight's Feature: AIRPLANE!

Rated PG. 88 minutes. Directed by Jim Abrahams, Jerry Zucker, and David Zucker.

This spoof of 1970s disaster movies has outlived the genre that it parodies, with its brilliant and influential blend of sight gags, ludicrous dialogue, and deadpan acting. In a cast of characters including a pilot with a fear of flying, a guitar-strumming nun, and a glue-sniffing air traffic controller, Leslie Nielsen steals the show as Dr. Rumack "Surely you can't be serious." "I am serious. And don't call me Shirley."

Gates open at 6:30 PM, movies begin at 8:00 PM
Films will screen rain or shine. A DJ will perform from 6:30 PM — 8:00 PM.
