Director of Special Events

Director of Special Events will maximize fund-raising opportunities through events to achieve departmental goals. This incumbent will manage and direct high-level committees and volunteers to build upon existing fundraising events.  The two main special events that this position executes are the Taste of Summer and Halloween Ball.

Position reports to the Vice President of Development and External Affairs.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and execute two major fund-raising benefits each year, Taste of Summer and Halloween Ball.
  • Manage and execute other events throughout the year as needed.
  • Manage and direct high-level committees and volunteers.
  • Coordinate event committee meetings.
  • Supervise and oversee Development Assistant and volunteers.
  • Create and monitor event budget.
  • Oversee printings and mailings of event announcements, invitations, etc.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree with Minimum 5 years' non-profit special events planning or hospitality experience required; Including working as the primary contact to volunteer committees to produce major fundraising events.
  • Experience producing an extensive range of events is essential.
  • Experience with off-site events tented outdoor settings, a plus.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail required.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a project team, as needed.
  • Self-starter able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Comfort with high net worth individuals and volunteers and an ability to interact independently with high-level volunteers is essential.
  • Excellent computer skills required; experience with Pledge Maker is desirable.
