Major Gifts Officer

Position Summary:
The Major Gifts Officer will work directly with Major Gifts and Planned Giving staff to raise gifts from $25,000 level to support the mission of the Central Park Conservancy. He/she will manage a portfolio of prospects and current donors and develop strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors.  The candidate will work closely with senior administration on developing key funding opportunities that lead to successful solicitations.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage assigned portfolio of highly rated prospects;
  • Establish budget goals in collaboration with management and develop strategies to reach them;
  • Upgrade donors from membership and Conservator programs to Major giving;
  • Solicit new Chairman’s Circle prospects;
  • Secure major gifts for capital, operating and endowment support and/or campaigns;
  • Actively cultivate and solicit prospects from events, bench and tree programs;
  • Work with Women’s Committee leadership to identify major giving prospects to solicit for major giving $25,000 and above;
  •  Prepare written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgments;
  •  Perform followup of gift requests, pledge agreements, acknowledgment letters, pledge reminders;
  • Develop an annual fundraising strategy and cultivation plan;
  • Work collaboratively with Major Gifts staff on organizing special cultivation/stewardship events and attend these events;
  • Track donor meetings, revenue tracking and financial reports.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • BA or BS from accredited College;
  • Minimum 3 years experience with individual giving experience with the Moves Management process;
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to contribute to a team environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Motivated, creative, and organized self-starter;
  • Experience with fundraising software;
  • Ability to participate in donor events, including occasional evenings;
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets;
  • Proven ability to work well with New York philanthropic community;
  • Familiarity with Central Park a plus.
