Parkwide Coordinator

The Parkwide Coordinator will represent both the Central Park Administrator and the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation in all interactions with the public and serve as a Park liaison to all Park Patrons.   Incumbent will be responsible in assisting in the coordination of special events throughout Central Park.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with the Mayor’s Office of Film to manage film and photography in Central Park to ensure adherence to all Park Rules & Regulations.
  • Organize day-to-day operations with City Agencies, including but not limited to Park Enforcement Patrol, New York Police Department, and the Department of Transportation.
  • Interact with all Park permitees and provide accurate and pertinent information about Park rules and regulations.
  • Provide accurate and pertinent information about, and directions to, all Park landmarks.
  • Assist in the development of operational plans for managing Special Events. This includes pre-event set-up, event day activities, clean up, and post event analysis.
  • Understands and effectively implements emergency operations plans.
  • Assist and support the Director, Parkwide Supervisor, and Supervisor of Night & Weekend Operations in identifying, prioritizing and executing tasks which include, but are not limited to: refuse removal, snow and ice removal, drain cleaning, leaf raking, wood chip dispersal, painting a variety of items (benches etc.) and the installation and repair of fencing.
  • On a daily basis identify additional Park landscape issues for the Night Operations staff to address.
  • Monitors proper and safe equipment/vehicle use by Night Operations employees.

 

Qualified candidates will have:

  • 1-3 years experience in Park Operations and/or Special Event/Film industry;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Park, including nights, weekends, and holidays;
  • Computer literate including MS Word and Excel;
  • College degree preferred; and
  •  Valid Driver’s License.
