Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Visitor Service
    • Proactively greets public and assists visitors in the centers and in the Park.
    • Responds to visitor information needs via the phone or in person.
    • Refers to the Visitor Center Information Book located at the front desk of each center or the Conservancy web site to find answers to visitor questions.
    • Tracks visitor numbers and requests for reports and future program development.
  • Administrative Assistance for Volunteer Department
    • Assists supervisor with administrative tasks.
    • Answers the phone, directs calls, and takes accurate written messages.
    • Assists with the development of procedures as necessary to improve quality and efficiency of office administration
  • Program Support
    • Promotes Conservancy programs when possible and appropriate.
    • Facilitates visitor participation in Conservancy programs.
    • Assists program staff with program preparations, implementation and evaluation.
  • Registration
    • Registers participants for Conservancy programs as assigned.
    • Keeps an updated and accurate account of all program registrants.
  • Visitor Center Maintenance and Operations
    • Proactively assists with daily operation and maintenance of Visitor Centers as outlined by the Visitor Center Manager.
    • Works to ensure Visitor Centers are clean and properly used. Notifies supervisor or Technical Support crew when a maintenance or emergency problem arises.
    • Alerts supervisor and/or Central Park security when personal safety or facility is compromised.
  • Park Stewardship
    • Educates Park visitors in relevant rules, policies, and procedures as necessary.
      Watches for violations of Park rules and takes appropriate action.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Candidates for this position should have a minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Experience in an office or retail environment is desirable.
  • Ability to consistently interact with the public in a courteous, diplomatic, and professional manner.
  • Desire to learn about the Park and CPC programs are required.
  • Basic math skills necessary to compile registration and attendance reports.
  • Weekend and occasional outdoor work required.
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Access etc.)
