Grounds Technician

The Grounds Technician performs basic grounds-keeping and maintenance tasks in Central Park.  Incumbents are required to execute tasks in all weather conditions and work a varied schedule including overtime.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs grounds-keeping/maintenance tasks including but not limited to:
    • Clean up and trash pick up in assigned areas of the Park
    • Snow and ice removal
    • Drain cleaning
    • Leaf raking and sweeping
    • Wood chip dispersal
    • Painting and repair of a variety of items (benches, etc.)
    • Installation and repair of fencing.
  • Assists Zone Gardeners on a variety of Horticulture/Maintenance projects.
  • Assists with set-up and clean up for special events that are held in Central Park.
  • Interacts with Park patrons in a professional manner including providing accurate an dpertinent information regarding Park landmarks and events.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Ability to work a varied schedule with overtime including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to perform heavy, physical labor on a daily basis in all weather conditions.
  • Experience in landscaping and/or construction is preferred.
  • Experience with outdoor power equipment.
  • Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License required
