Part-time Gift Shop Salesperson

The position of Part Time Gift Shop Salesperson has the responsibility of assisting with the operation of the Dairy Gift Shop and Visitor Center. Must be able to work 3-4 days a week will include at least one weekend day determined by Supervisor 22-30 hours per week.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  •  Operation of the cash register, including credit card sales
  •  Counting inventory
  •  Receiving, bar-coding and folding of merchandise
  •  Placing merchandise on display and restocking display shelves
  •  Providing information to visitors on Central Park and activities offered at visitor centers
  •  Assisting in cleaning of display areas
  • Transporting boxes or bins from storage area in basement to main floor

Performance Expectations:

  • Reports to job on time and prepared to work
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle the public in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Develops and demonstrates a familiarity with all program concepts, as well as the physical needs of the facilities to support implementation
  • Ensures that the facilities are clean and properly used, and alerts security and maintenance personnel when necessary
  • Completes assigned tasks on schedule

 Position Requirements:

  •  A minimum of two years paid work experience in sales
  •  A strong desire to work with the public and strong interpersonal skills
  •  Bright, personable, organized and energetic as well as detail-oriented
  •  Pleasant phone manner, strong command of the English language (bilingual a plus)
  •  Computer proficiency required (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.)
  •  Ability to lift 20-pound boxes and stand for extended period of time
