Trail Building     Planting Native Plants

The Group Community Service program provides the opportunity for youth groups  to participate in an ongoing restoration project in the Hallett Nature Sanctuary.  The Hallett Nature Sanctuary is a 3.5-acre preserve in the southeast corner of Central Park that was closed to the public and set aside for wildlife in 1934.  Currently, teens are involved in the initiative to restore the area to a native forest habitat.  Projects include invasive species removal, native species planting and the construction and maintenance of woodchip trails.

This program is free!
