Sir Walter Scott

 

Walter Scott (1771-1832), author of the popular novel Ivanhoe, is celebrated for his invention of the historical novel. The sculpture in Central Park is a bronze replica of the 1845 original in Edinburgh and was commissioned to honor the centennial of the writer's birth.
