The Tempest

Tempest

The entrance to the Delacorte Theatre is guarded by two life-size sculptures, The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet, which feature characters from Shakespeare's plays. The Tempest depicts Prospero the magician sheltering his daughter Miranda with his left hand while he casts a spell with his right hand. The statue reflects the drama of the situation with the characters' wind-swept clothes and Prospero's exaggerated gestures.

Location

Mid-park at 80th Street near the Delacorte Theater.
