Chinese Fringetree Tree
The Chinese fringetree provides spectacularly fragrant, white blooms in late spring to early summer, and bright yellow leaves in the fall. The Chinese fringetree can be found in Shakespeare Garden and in the Dene landscape, just north of Billy Johnson Playground.

Scientific Name: Chionanthus retusus

Origin: Eastern Asia

Family: Oleaceae

Size: 10' - 20' tall, 10' - 20' wide

Form: Round

Culture: Prefer moist, well-drained soil; full sun to partial shade

2" - 4" opposite, oval, turn yellow in the fall

White, narrow, strap-like

Fruit

Small, ripen from green to blue or purple, popular with birds
