    We close many of Central Park's lawns starting in November to begin preparing for and ensure a greener spring. These closures allow our Operations team to overseed the lawns and prevent irreparable damage to the grass when it's at its most vulnerable. Thank you for your patience!

    North Meadow (open for x-country skiing)
    East Meadow
    The following lawns are closed as of November 28, 2011: Dana Center Lawn

    Bridge No. 24 is still under repair, but is open for pedestrian traffic.

  • The Arsenal in Central Park Arsenal

    The Arsenal was built between 1847 and 1851 as a munitions supply depot for New York State’s National Guard. That original military use would be short-lived, as it soon became part of Central Park.
