Grab your glove and lace up your cleats. Ballfields are open for the season at Heckscher, Great Lawn and North Meadow West Side (fields 1 - 6). North Meadow East Side ballfieds (6 - 12) will open Saturday, April 24.

There are three areas in the Park to play softball and baseball: Playing Baseball in Central Park

Great Lawn: Eight ballfields, restored by the Conservancy in 1997.
North Meadow: Seven baseball and five softball fields, restored in 2000.
Heckscher Ballfields: Six ballfields, restored in 2006.

Permits are required for leagues, teams and other groups and issued from mid- April through mid-September by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. Complete and submit a permit application to this address:

Abraham and Joseph Spector Playground
Spector Playground is one of the largest playgrounds in the Park. It features an expansive sand area and open space for running and playing.
