Lawn Bowling and Croquet

Playing Croquet in Central ParkNear Sheep Meadow, Central Park has two beautifully kept fields for lawn bowling and croquet, each 15,000 sqare feet in size. The season runs from May 1 to November 7 with hours of play from 8am until dusk. Fields, when not under repair or reserved for tournaments, are open daily, weather permitting. Order of play is determined by order of arrival at the field. Players are required to furnish their own equipment.

Each player must hold a permit. Permits are strictly personal and non-transferable and duplicates will not be issued unless another fee is paid. Permits cost $30 and can be obtained in Room 1 of the Arsenal at Fifth Avenue and 64th Street. Office hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm and Saturday 9am to 12pm. Saturday hours are valid for April, May and June only. For more information regarding permits call 212-360-8133.

  • King Jagiello Statue in Central Park King Jagiello

    The sculpture was commissioned for the 1939 World's Fair in New York. Later that year, the Nazis invaded Poland, preventing the sculpture's return to its homeland. In 1945, it was placed in Central Park by the Polish government as a symbol of the proud and courageous Polish people.
