Model Boat Sailing

Sailing a model boat on Central Park's Conservatory Water.Whether you have a radio-powered sailboat or a wind-powered sloop, model boat sailing in Central Park's Conservatory Water is a delight for participants and observers of all ages.

Conservatory Water is open for sailing from approximately April through October. You can bring your own model sailboat or rent one from Central Park Model Sailboat Rentals. Their hours are:

Monday to Thursday: 11:00 am-7:00 pm
Friday: 11:00 am-10:00 pm
Saturday: 1:00 pm-10:00 pm
Sunday: 10:00 am-8:00 pm

  • Sheep Meadow in Central Park Sheep Meadow

    Although these days you’ll mostly find sunbathers lounging on the lawn, the meadow was actually home to a flock of sheep from 1864 until 1934. The sheep and shepherd were housed in a fanciful Victorian building nearby – what became the famous Tavern on the Green restaurant.
