Dalehead Arch

One of 36 bridges and arches in Central Park, Dalehead Arch carries the West Drive over the bridle path that leads westward to the Heckscher Ballfields. Constructed between 1860 and 1862, its signature elliptical arch is trimmed with a brownstone ring molding. Dalehead’s elevations are built of sandstone blocks of random size, and its side buttresses curve outward against the soil embankments.
