Visitors in search of a tranquil area to relax on a lawn should head to East Green, one of eight designated Quiet Zones in Central Park.
Not to be confused with East Meadow, which is further north of the Reservoir, this lawn is situated just above the gentle slopes of the Dene. At one point used as a boys’ cricket field, the lawn today is a hotspot for summertime sunbathers and a place for quiet reflection and reading all year round. In the spring, the green comes alive with the fragrant blooms of magnolias, crabapples, and Kwanzan cherry trees.
