Merchants' Gate Plaza Cafe

Indulge in refreshments at two Victorian-style kiosks situated on the plaza of Merchants’ Gate – one of the busiest entrances of Central Park and a delicious spot to people-watch. Operated by Ferrara’s Italian Café, one kiosk serves up gelato and smoothies, the other pastries, cappuccino, espresso and light fare. Tables and chairs are available for diners.

In 1997, the Conservancy restored Merchants’ Gate and its surrounding landscape, transforming it into an inviting public plaza with decorative granite paving, a low stone seating wall, and a shaded sitting area with lighting.
