Volunteers are central to the Park!
The Conservancy's success depends on a dedicated corps of volunteers who fill a number of critical roles, from maintaining landscapes to leading visitors on tours. With 843 acres there's a lot of ground to cover, and many ways to lend a hand. Below, find the different opportunities available. If any interest you, please register online today. Join our team and find an excuse to spend more time in the Park!
Please note that our volunteer programs:
- Welcome anyone ages 18 and up
- Have special volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups under the age of 18
- Operate year round except during severe weather conditions
- Offer both one-time, drop-in opportunities, and ongoing positions requiring a long-term commitment
- Provide any necessary training and equipment
If your questions about the Conservancy's volunteer program are not

Want to get your hands dirty? Help us keep Central Park beautiful by volunteering to maintain and enhance its landscapes. Join us for a Saturday Green Team session, or make a long-term commitment as a Gardener's Assistant. Typical activities include planting, mulching, raking, weeding, pruning and painting.
Do you love Central Park and want to tell the world about it? Become a greeter/guide and provide information, give tours and help enhance the overall experience for Central Park's over 38 million annual visitors.
The Central Park Conservancy's "Day in the Dirt" program is designed for groups to come to the Park and participate in large-scale horticulture and maintenance projects. The type of project will depend on the season and the size of your group. It's a great way to promote volunteerism within your community.
Help keep Central Park clean on your own schedule. Volunteer to pitch in and pick up!
Join our dog-loving community by volunteering for Central Park Paws. From monthly Bagel Barks to the annual My Dog Loves Central Park Country Fair, our events depend on the efforts of our volunteers.
Central Park is an outdoor classroom. The Conservancy's free Youth Education & Service Programs provide groups and individual youth with hands-on opportunities to learn about the Park while helping preserve its landscapes. Through fun and educational activities, students develop a sense of stewardship for Central Park and other natural environments.
Twice a year, big and little green thumbs alike can pitch in together to help preserve and beautify Central Park. Our Family Volunteer Days let you combine your family’s love of the outdoors with a spirit of volunteerism.
