Group Volunteering

A Day in the Dirt for Non-Profits

The Central Park Conservancy's "Day in the Dirt" program is designed for non-profit groups to participate in large-scale horticulture and maintenance projects. It’s a great way to promote volunteerism and help your community.

The type of project will depend on the season and the size of your group. Typical projects include raking leaves, spreading mulch, weeding, and bench or pipe rail painting. We provide any necessary tools, gloves, water and on-site supervision. A commitment of three hours is required.

These non-profit group volunteer opportunities are available on a limited basis, and on Thursdays or Fridays only. Group size is generally limited to 20 to 30 adults. A donation of $50 per person is suggested, which will include a one-year honorary membership to the Central Park Conservancy, and the opportunity to volunteer in a world-class Park.  Please send all inquiries to volunteer@centralparknyc.org

Please note that Day in the Dirt is only available for adults. For activities for those under 18 years of age, please visit our Youth Programs page.

Registration

Registration for the Fall/Winter seasons opens in August. Registration for the Spring/Summer seasons opens in January. Please inquire by sending an email to volunteer@centralparknyc.org or call the Volunteer Hotline at 212-360-2751.

Please be aware that projects are pre-selected and there is limited availability. Projects are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
