Central Park is an outdoor classroom with limitless possibilities. The Central Park Conservancy's free Youth Education & Service Programs provide groups and individual youth with hands-on opportunities to learn about Central Park and help preserve and maintain its landscapes. Through activities that are both educational and fun, students develop a sense of stewardship for Central Park and other natural environments.

Students in this two-month long fall and three-month long spring program learn about urban forest ecology and management through ecological restoration projects in the North Woods and Ramble woodlands.
Visitor Center Internship

Spring Visitor Center Internship Program

This 12-week, Saturday unpaid internship provides the opportunity for five high school students to learn about the history and management of Central Park, improve public speaking and interpersonal skills, and gain first-hand experience in how visitor centers operate in a Park that receives over 40 million visits a year.

ROOTS

Students in this two-month-long spring after-school program learn about urban forest ecology and management through ecological restoration projects in the Hallett Nature Sanctuary, including removing invasive species, planting native species and maintenance and construction of woodchipped trails.

Summer Interns

Summer Internship Program

This eight-week, full-time paid internship provides summer jobs with the Central Park Conservancy for approximately 25 high school students. Interns support the horticulture, visitor services and public programs departments.
