The Harlem Meer Performance Festival is back for its 29th year!
Join us to close out this summer’s festival with Despers USA Steel Orchestra, which was founded in 1976 by members of the world-renowned Desperadoes Steel Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago. The founders continue to cultivate and share the art of steel pan music, and the acronym “Deeply Emotional Spirited Players Executing Rhythmical Sounds” ensures their commitment to excellence. Despers players range in age from seven to seventy, and the band has performed across the world, alongside acts like The Rolling Stones and Jimmy Buffet.
A community fixture since the opening of the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center in 1993, the Harlem Meer Performance Festival is a free annual event that brings the best local talent to Central Park. Enjoy a variety of performances featuring multicultural music, dance, and family-friendly entertainment while admiring the Meer-side views.
The Festival is free and all ages are welcome. Check out our Event Q&As for more information.
