Harlem Meer Performance Festival: Spanglish Fly

The Harlem Meer Performance Festival is back for its 29th year!
Come and celebrate with, Spanglish Fly’s eleven musicians, who are hailed as the premier band of the Latin boogaloo revival. Bugalú blends Afro-Caribbean percussion and rhythms with the fervor, the feeling, and the blues of 60s-era soul and the pool halls of Spanish Harlem, “El Barrio.”
Two bilingual women vocalists front a band of three percussionists, four horns, bass, and piano/organ. Spanglish Fly’s multicultural cast has origins in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Japan, Argentina, and Upper Manhattan. They come together in New York City to create quintessential music of the US streets.
A community fixture since the opening of the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center in 1993, the Harlem Meer Performance Festival is a free annual event that brings the best local talent to Central Park. Enjoy a variety of performances featuring multicultural music, dance, and family-friendly entertainment while admiring the Meer-side views.
The Festival is free and all ages are welcome. Check out our Event Q&As for more information.
