Exploring the North End

Roam through wooded hills and elegant gardens on an afternoon in Central Park’s north end.

When Central Park designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux set out to create a great public space, they made the north end a naturalistic, Adirondack-inspired oasis where visitors could forget the bustling City around them. On this walking tour, you’ll see the Harlem Meer (the Park’s second-biggest water body), follow meandering paths through the woodlands, and enjoy the stylized blooms of the Park’s only formal garden.

This tour is roughly a mile and should take about 60 minutes to complete.
