NYC Program Coordinator

The NYC Program Coordinator will help oversee the management of NYC-based Institute programs and events, and will assist the NYC Program Manager undertake special projects for the President’s Office as necessary at the discretion of the Executive Director of the Institute and the President of the Conservancy.

Central Park Conservancy Institute for Urban Parks

“Helping Other Parks” is a core value of the Central Park Conservancy and is a part of our organizational mission. Since its earliest days, the Conservancy has provided critical assistance and support to parks throughout New York City and across the globe.

The Institute for Urban Parks, founded in 2013, builds on the Conservancy’s expertise as a leader in the field of urban park management and public-private park partnerships to provide professional education, capacity building, peer-to-peer exchange, and thought leadership to strengthen the field of urban park management so that all park professionals have the skills, knowledge, and attitudes they need to create and support successful and sustainable parks.

NYC Programs

The Institute is preparing to significantly expand its work over the next seven years. This will include a more ambitious research agenda, building and supporting a national network of urban park management peers, growing our capacity building efforts, creating publications and other media to support thought leadership, and a more structured group services program. We are looking for a NYC Program Coordinator to support our NYC program portfolio to sustain and improve our local programs.

The NYC Program Coordinator will help oversee the management of NYC-based Institute programs and events, and will assist the NYC Program Manager undertake special projects for the President’s Office as necessary at the discretion of the Executive Director of the Institute and the President of the Conservancy. Leveraging the Conservancy’s knowledge and history, in conjunction with broader industry trends, the NYC Program Coordinator will help implement programs that provide assistance, resources, support, and education to address identified needs in NYC-based park and public space organizations. The NYC Program Coordinator will also help develop and implement events such as convenings, site visits, and panel discussions to share information gleaned from the Institute’s efforts or further the exploration of relevant topics.

The NYC Program Coordinator will be knowledgeable about the nonprofit sector, will have a familiarity with the creation and management of urban parks and public spaces in NYC, and will be passionate about maximizing sustained social impact. S/he will have a demonstrated track record of successful relationship management and exceptional project management skills, and can analyze complex organizational problems and present information succinctly to promote decision-making and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
