Yoga in Central Park
Roll out your mat on the lawn and find some quiet.
Central Park has no shortage of grassy spaces to stretch out on. Whether you're flowing solo or with a few friends, Sheep Meadow, the Great Lawn, the East Meadow, the Great Hill, and the green at the Davis Center are all ideal spots for a self-guided practice.
Things to know before you go:
- It's free, and you don’t need a permit for casual groups of 20 or fewer. Planning for a bigger group? You'll need a Special Event permit from NYC Parks.
- Bring a blanket to place under your mat if you've got one. Natural fabrics like cotton are gentler on the grass.
- Leave the speaker at home. Several of the Park’s lawns, including Sheep Meadow, are designated quiet zones where amplified sound isn’t allowed.
- Lawns rest and recover over the winter and typically reopen in the spring. Remember to check our Alerts and Closures page before you leave, especially early in the season.
