Bridle Path

Encircling the Reservoir and Stephanie and Fred Shuman Running Track, the 1.66-mile bridle path loop is one of the Park's most popular routes for walkers, runners, and dog owners.

Stretching from the Park's southwest corner to 104th Street, this dirt-and-gravel path resembles a country road winding under a grove of flowering cherry trees, along grotto-like rock faces, and through diverse flora that transforms with the seasons.

Originally designed for horseback riding, the bridle path remains a cherished retreat for those seeking a quieter experience. Its unpaved surface attracts runners looking to reduce impact, and dog owners appreciate room to roam along its wide trail. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times.

Bicycles are not permitted on the bridle path. The bridle path is shown in orange on the Central Park Running Map.
