Barbara Scott

Barbara H. Scott is a distinguished education leader who currently serves as the Executive Director of Parents League of New York. With a broad career spanning classroom instruction, admissions leadership, and executive administration, Barbara has dedicated her professional life to connecting children and families with exceptional learning opportunities.

An active advocate for institutional excellence and educational access, Barbara extends her expertise to a wide range of philanthropic and governance endeavors. Engaged with the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy since 2001, she joined its board in 2015 and has held numerous leadership roles. She currently serves as Board Chair for the Bronx Charter School for the Arts, a trustee for The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), and an advisory board member for Making Caring Common, a Harvard Graduate School of Education project.

Barbara holds a Master of Science in Independent School Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College—where she was recognized as a Klingenstein Institute scholar—and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College. She brings a deeply empathetic, multi-faceted perspective to her work in both educational and philanthropic settings.

A long-time champion of green spaces, Barbara has enjoyed Central Park for many years, having raised her family with her husband always within a short walk of the Park’s inviting spaces.
