Central Park Conservancy Celebrates Annual Winter Party “A Night in Morocco”

The Central Park Conservancy hosted its Winter Party “A Night in Morocco” on Thursday, December 6, 2018. The magical evening of dinner and dancing took place in a heated tent transformed into a Moroccan oasis in the heart of Central Park. More than 700 friends and supporters took part in the festive event, which raised $1.3 million towards the Conservancy’s mission to restore, manage, and enhance Central Park.

“It is exciting to see so many people enthusiastically supporting the great work done by the Central Park Conservancy,” said Elizabeth W. Smith, the Conservancy’s President & CEO. “New Yorkers love Central Park and we are proud to be the stewards devoted to restoring, maintaining, and managing the Park for all visitors to enjoy.”

Guests savored the sights, tastes, and sounds of Morocco through festive music, a Moroccan-inspired menu, hundreds of twinkling Moroccan lanterns, belly dancers, palm readers, and more. The worldly décor was designed by DeJuan Stroud.

Tracey and Craig Huff, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, Gillian and Robert Steel, and Nanar and Tony Yoseloff served as the event’s co-chairs. Following dinner, Young Associate guests, chaired by Nicholas D’Angelo, Bryan Hale, Lauren Junge, and Lisa Saguirian, joined the party for dessert and dancing with music by DJ M.O.S. and DJ Kiss.

Notable attendees included Elizabeth Atwood, Katherine Birch, Sarah Bray, Shelley and Michael Carr, Fe and Alessandro Fendi, Laurie and Peter Grauer, Hilary Gumbel, Anne and Bill Harrison, Billy Hult, Alexia Leuschen, Alexandra Lebenthal and Jay Diamond, Tonya Lee, Elyse Newhouse, Amelia Ogunlesi, Liz and Jeff Peek, Yesim and Dusty Philip, Carol Sutton Lewis, Deborah Roberts, Laureen Seeger, Zachary Weiss, and Damian Woetzel.
