NEW YORK—Following claims about electrical conditions in Central Park, a spokesperson for the Central Park Conservancy issued the following statement:
"Addressing electrical conditions in Central Park is not within the Conservancy's jurisdiction. We will support the efforts of our partners at ConEd, the Department of Transportation and other City agencies as they investigate and address this issue. If an electrical issue exists in the Park, it should be identified and corrected. The eight carriage-related incidents in different locations in the Park over the last 13 months show that the presence of horse carriages is an ongoing danger to Park visitors, drivers, and horses. We maintain our call for a ban on carriages to protect public safety in Central Park."
