Please note that you need to register to gain access to August’s Secrets of Central Park. Your registration for July will not extend into August. For information on how to register, please email [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

You only need to register once, and you’ll receive access for the entire month’s sessions. Once you’re registered, you'll receive a confirmation email and reminders with a link to access the series.

  • August 6 | 1978: The NYC Parks & New York Times Photo Project

    During the summer of 1978, photographers from The New York Times, the New York Daily News, and the New York Post went on strike, and NYC Parks hired eight of their photographers to capture life in the City’s parks during the summer. The photos from the project showcased the diverse people of NYC and all the ways parks helped support them, while beautifully illustrating life during the 1970s.
  • August 13 | Gone Fishin': Fishing in Central Park

    For many, nothing is more synonymous with summer than fishing—even here in New York City! Take a seat by one of our lovely water bodies, sit back, and relax as we learn about the many fish in the waters of Central Park and how to responsibly interact with them.
  • August 20 | Theater in Central Park

    Get ready for a real showstopper: The Delacorte Theater is re-opening in August with a star-studded production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night! To celebrate, we'll examine the history of Central Park's stages and playhouses. Join us on a walk through the middle of the Park and explore its connections to the world of theater.
  • August 27 | Remembrance in Central Park

    Frederick Law Olmsted passed away on August 28, 1903. We'll mark this day by reflecting on remembrance itself, and how Central Park's landscapes have served as the peaceful backdrop to our memories and memorialization.
  • August 31 | Pollinators of the Park

    If you're wondering what all the buzz is about in our wildflowers this summer, it’s pollinators! From big, fuzzy bumblebees to the delicate, rapid wings of hummingbirds, our birds, bees, and butterflies are busy! We'll check out some of the floral highlights in the Park and learn about the many critters drawn to their nectar and pollen.
