July 9 | Happy Birthday, Fitz-Greene Halleck
Once called the American Byron—crowds of thousands gathered to view the dedication of his statue—few folks remember Fitz-Greene Halleck today. Join us in celebrating the birthday of the only American poet featured on Literary Walk, and revisit his poems and his place in Central Park history. -
July 16 | Celebrating Jacob Wrey Mould
Jacob Wrey Mould was an architect who worked with Calvert Vaux to put the finishing touches on some of the most famous landmarks in Central Park. In celebration of his 200th birthday, we will take a look at some of his most enduring and colorful works, including Bethesda Terrace and Belvedere Castle -
July 23 | Rebirth in the Park
Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. was born on July 24, 1870. Son to Central Park's co-designer, Frederick Law Olmsted, Olmsted Jr. carried on his father's legacy with his brother through their landscape architecture firm, Olmsted Brothers. As we celebrate Olmsted Jr.'s birthday, we'll also reflect upon the examples of rebirth we can observe throughout Central Park. -
July 30 | Pollinators of the Park
If you're wondering what all the buzz is about in our wildflowers this summer, it’s pollinators! From big, fuzzy bumblebees to the delicate, rapid wings of hummingbirds, our birds, bees, and butterflies are busy! We'll check out some of the floral highlights in the Park and learn about the many critters drawn to their nectar and pollen.
