Ladies Pavilion

Ladies Pavillion

Located on Hernshead, a peninsula on the western side of the Lake, the ornate blue and gold Ladies Pavilion provides a stunning view over the water against the backdrop of the City skyline.

Architect Jacob Wrey Mould designed the ornate Victorian pavilion in 1871 as a shelter for trolley passengers. It originally stood near the Park's Central Park West and 59th Street entrance, but was relocated to its current home in 1912; it stood near the former Ladies Pond, a secluded water body where women could skate privately in the Park.
