Central Park Conservancy Research Inquiry Form

The Central Park Conservancy maintains an archives of documents, photographs, and other records related to the Park’s management and the Conservancy’s history and programs. While the Conservancy’s archives primarily serves our staff and is not a public research collection, certain holdings can be made available to external researchers, including scholars and professionals.

If you are interested in learning more about the Conservancy’s collection and whether we might be able to support your research needs, submit this form and include as much detail about your project as possible. Requests should be made at least two weeks in advance.

Note we are unable to accommodate all requests, and priority is given to researchers at the graduate level and above. We are more likely to be able to help with specific questions than broad research, so please be detailed and precise in your request.

Research Agreement

If granted access to the collection, applicant agrees to the following terms:

  • Archival documents cannot be borrowed and must remain at the Central Park Conservancy. All materials will be handled with care.
  • References to materials in the collection will be fully and properly cited.
  • Photography (without flash) may be permitted for personal research use, but further reproduction or publication of images must be approved by the Central Park Conservancy. The archivist can provide guidance on how to make a request.
  • Researchers will provide a copy of their final product to the Central Park Conservancy in either digital or print format.
