English Oak

The English oak is known for growing very old and large. It can produce tens of thousands of acorns each year after maturing. The English oak can be found in Central Park just east of the West Drive at 70th Street.

    Alternate, 2-5 inches long

    Green to brown acorns
  • Flower

    Small, yellowish-green catkins 2-3 inches long (male), very small, in clusters of 2-4 (female)
  • Bark

    Gray to black-brown, smooth
