New York, NY — New Yorkers are being invited to shake off their cabin fever and celebrate spring in Central Park. The Central Park Conservancy’s third annual Celebrate Spring initiative kicks off on March 21, the first full day of spring, with a volunteer drive.
The Conservancy—the nonprofit that cares for the Park—is recruiting New Yorkers who want to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to join the community of Central Park caretakers. Volunteers will be spring cleaning in Central Park, including raking, weeding, and laying mulch, and more while promoting a clear message: Join the Conservancy’s volunteer team!
New volunteers are needed to replenish the ranks, which were reduced during the pandemic. Seeing nearly 42 million visitors a year, Central Park is the most frequented urban park in the country. As people prepare to enjoy the warmer weather, it would be nearly impossible to prepare and care for the Park’s 843 acres, 18,000+ trees, 26 ballfields, 21 playgrounds, and more without volunteers. Volunteer efforts today will help the season bloom even brighter.
