Seasonal Teams

Make an immediate difference in the Park with one of our seasonal teams—painting and weeding in spring and summer, raking in fall, and shoveling snow in winter.

Make an immediate difference in the Park with one of our seasonal stewardship projects.

Painting Projects
You can help maintain the Park's 9,000 benches by cleaning underneath, weeding around, and painting them with a shiny new layer of Central Park green! These projects happen on Mondays (maybe more) three seasons of the year, weather permitting.

Horticulture Projects
As the seasons change, so does our work in the Park. When snow and ice give way to the first weeds of the season, you will be there giving the edge to our plantings over the unwanted competitors and invasive species. In the height of the summer, you’ll comb through our landscapes doing the intensive detail work that keeps Central Park not only green but a sculpted masterpiece! As we get into fall, you’ll help us tackle our months-long chore of leaf removal and composting either in-place or centrally. Finally, when the weather cools and the plants die back, you’ll be helping us keep our pathways and playgrounds free of snow and ice. In the winter days without snow, you’ll help staff cut and prune back the previous year’s growth and make room for spring’s bloom!

Sign-ups open approximately one week before each session, and space is limited.

Interested? These projects require you to attend a New Volunteer Information Session. We post New Volunteer Information Sessions on an as-needed basis. If we have one coming up, you’ll see a sign-up link listed below. Don’t see a sign-up link? It means we’re a-okay for now and you should check back at a later date.
