A Guide to the Perfect Valentine’s Day in Central Park
Central Park has long been celebrated as one of New York City’s most romantic escapes. Here’s our guide to the best date spots to explore with your special someone in the Park.
Central Park’s romantic roots go as far back as the late 1800s, when couples strolled along a tree-lined path lovingly nicknamed Lovers’ Lane. Though the path itself no longer exists, this spirit lives on through first dates, stolen glances, surprise proposals, timeless weddings, and cherished anniversaries.
Our Valentine's Day Guide highlights some of Central Park’s most enchanting places to wander, pause, and connect. Let the love stories of fellow visitors spark ideas of your own—and start planning a romantic moment that’s uniquely yours.
Plan Your Perfect Date in the Park
–Waltraud“Many years ago, my late husband and I entered the southeast corner of Central Park as a heavy snowfall began covering the Park with a sparkly white blanket. On impulse, both of us fell onto the soft snow and began spreading our arms in a semicircular fashion, leaving the imprints of visiting angels behind as we got up. The notion that others might see, enjoy, and perhaps copy this image left us happily satisfied as we returned home.”

–Julia“I took my newfound boyfriend to my favorite places in Central Park as a way of getting to know me better. First stop: Turtle Pond, where we encountered three curious raccoons who popped their heads over the edge of the pier, looking for a handout, I'm sure. A favorite memory, for sure.”
