Vista Rock

Vista Rock, a massive outcropping of schist rock, was intended to be the main destination in the southern end of Central Park, which is why Park designers chose to build the iconic Belvedere Castle on its summit. As its name suggests, Vista Rock provides commanding views of the Park—the Ramble to the south, Turtle Pond and the Great Lawn to the north. Vista Rock is Central Park’s second-highest natural peak (after Summit Rock).
