Japanese Stewartia

The Japanese stewartia is a small tree that has dark green leaves in the summer and red-orange leaves in the fall. They can be found near the entrance to Conservatory Garden's North Garden. New Japanese stewartias have also recently been planted in Strawberry Fields.

Gray to brown, flakes off to reveal pale brown to light red, reminiscent of eucalyptus trees
