Central Park Conservancy Staff Work Through Historic Snowfall

With 19” Reported in the Park, Snow-Clearing Operations Are Underway Across 843 Acres to Keep the Park Safe and Beautiful So New Yorkers Can Make Lifelong Memories

NEW YORK—Central Park Conservancy staff began snow operations at 8pm Sunday night and remained on the ground Monday, responding to New York’s State of Emergency with ongoing cleanup efforts throughout the day today. Through the winter’s historic snowfall, the Conservancy—the nonprofit responsible for managing Central Park—has used its powerful snow-clearing operation to clear 58 miles of paths and other high-traffic areas.

While Conservancy staff care for all 843 acres of the Park year-round, this winter's heavy storms present some of the most challenging conditions they face. Central Park Conservancy also reports snow measurements in the park to the National Weather Service as the city's official climate reporting site.

As New Yorkers enjoy the Park this historic winter season, the Conservancy reminds visitors to respect staff efforts to keep the park clear and safe. When planning Park visits, please avoid closed areas and check out the Conservancy's official Snow Guide to maximize fun!
