Our work on the landscape around Rumsey Playfield included the reconstruction of paths and other infrastructure, the addition of new landscape plantings and turf, and restoration of the eastern entrance plaza.
Building upon reconstruction work in adjacent areas of the Park, restoration of the landscape immediately surrounding Rumsey Playfield included:
- Reconstruction of existing paths and infrastructure, including restoration of existing stairs and the addition of handrails
- Restoration of the plaza at the eastern entrance to Rumsey Playfield (which features the popular Mother Goose sculpture), including the replacement of existing pavement and benches
- Restoration of lawn areas, including the addition of new landscape plantings, new irrigation infrastructure, and new turf
ProjectReconstruction of the East 72nd Street Playground enhanced accessibility, updated the adventure-style play elements, and further integrated the playground into the surrounding landscape.
We completed five faithful recreations of the Lake’s original boat landings, which had been constructed in the 19th century and removed throughout the 20th century due to deterioration.
ProjectOur renovation of Billy Johnson Playground preserved and reinforced the rustic character of the playground while increasing the play value and improving accessibility.
Our work on the historic Naumburg Bandshell restored lost architectural features, repaired the concrete and limestone masonry, and will help preserve the integrity of the structure for years to come.
