Summer on the Harlem Meer: Nature

Discover the Meer and its residents!

The Harlem Meer (Dutch for “lake”) is a perfect spot to relax, connect with others, and observe nature. Join our team of friendly tour guides for a morning of hands-on activities and nature walks before the Harlem Meer Performance Festival. In this multigenerational program, our guides will share fun facts about the Meer's wildlife (including its beloved turtles!), and will share how Park visitors and neighbors can help protect the wellbeing of the animals that call the Meer and its landscape home.

The Meer's residents will also be featured in our nature-themed arts and crafts. For those who would like to get an even better understanding of the Meer's ecology and biodiversity, we will also offer 30-minute guided walks around the Meer, where visitors of all ages can get to know this north-end gem.

All activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Check out our Summer on the Harlem Meer webpage for the full event listing.

Join the Central Park Conservancy’s Harlem Meer newsletter for updates on activities and opportunities in the North End of the Park, as well the latest on the Harlem Meer Center project.
